I found this place through another website reading about INFPs. I found out I was one a few months ago and have been fascinated in that and psychology in general since then. My name is Angelo, I'd refer to be called that rather than angelogamer, I've used that screen name since 6th grade and I can't even tell when I'm using it anymore, so it just kinda happens. I could tell you a little bit about myself, but last night I actually wrote a story on Exerience Project about what its like to be an INFP to a group for them. So I'll just direct you to that instead. I would also recommend you contribute to the group yourselves if you want. http://www.experienceproject.com/storie ... fp/1850599I think its pretty cool a forum for INFPs exist. I've never met another before, I always thought they were too far in between. And anyway, hello!

Hello and welcome Angelo It's true that INFPs are not a commonly distributed type... but yes they do exist and some of them are here! I have a feeling you will get a lot out of studying psychology. Have you come across Carl Rogers? I think he's a dead cert for INFP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Rogers

Carl Rogers wrote a book called 'On Becoming A Person' (about psychotherapy) that I found delightful, like sitting down for a nice chat with an old friend. Perhaps a strange description to use of reading a book about such a thing but that's how it felt to me reading it.

It's great that you were able to discern early on which field of study/work could fuel your passion for life.

Thanks for the welcome, and yes I'm quite excited about my new interest of psychology! DefectiveCreative wrote: Quote: "I want to go home." *sigh* I know that feeling. All too well. That fact that there is anyone out there at all that understood that is pretty amazing to me.

You sound very much like a Healer. Psychology, especially child psychology, would be a wonderful job for an INFP to hold. I relate to your desire to help people. I was surprised to find you were 19 years old... you write with incredible maturity. And welcome.

At first when I read about the Healer I thought it was silly that thats what my personality was. Now I realize thats what it was all along. I agree, child psychology sounds like a great job.

Amazing and moving piece of writing. "I want to go home"...yes! I love the paragraph about trudging through snow, etc. So eloquent and exactly how I feel. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Angelo! Amazing story. I have a suggestion. Lay the brush/chalk/stylus aside for a while. Write more. It's been a long time since I studied Creative Writing as part of my own education, but I can remember the material most of us were producing. You would do well. You are already great at drawing with words. Also, though I'll always encourage people to seek work that they love, sometimes the expectation of performance turns what we love into a source of pain. So draw for yourself and find something less fun to do for a living. I'm and actor/dancer/mime/mover, but I do IT support for a living (hey, people pay me to play with their computers, how cool is that?!). Have another look at the reactions your story got from sciski, Sakura and me. You wrote from the reality of your experience and translated that into something evocative. Have a look in the bookstore next time you're there, or check out the struggling authors on the net. PLEASE consider writing more and save us from the dross!
