I want the purpose of this thread to be a place where you state what you believe. If you have questions for someone else about what they believe or want to debate something they said, use the PMs. That's all, thank you.

I've gone through numerous systems of belief, but I have fallen back to Atheism.

Currently agnostic. I come from a conservative Evangelical Christian background and still attend a sort-of-Baptist church. At the moment, I refuse to identify as either a Christian or an Atheist; I consider myself a conscientious objector.

I'm thankful to my parents for my giving my brother and I a few (Anglican) Sunday school experiences, and then letting us choose, around the omniscient ages of 4 and 6, if we wanted anything to do with it anymore. Arguably it could have been a choice that we made later in life, but we said no and haven't looked back.

I don't really know what I believe. Buddhism appeals to me on a strictly "I've chosen not to investigate this further" level. I'm too spiritual to be an atheist, too decided to be an agnostic, and so unaffected that I can't declare anything else. I honestly oscillate between those three, without ever needing to name where I am on the spectrum. Actually I'm going to check agnostic because my daily concerns probably fall short of actual undefined spirituality. I don't feel anything I'm supposed to in church, nor prayer, nor meditation, nor do I feel the contention of having to decide. (Is that last one a defining feature of 'agnostic'?) What affects me are personal stories and, perhaps sadly, trying to take care of myself (let's be honest). But I'm okay with saying there probably is something greater than all of us, binding us all together. If there were an emoticon for what I believe, it would be a blend of 0:) :waggle:

I consider myself an agnostic atheist, which for me basically boils down to "There might be something there, or there might not, but there probably isn't. Either way, it doesn't change how I choose to live my life."

I'm Christian in an unorthodox way, so that makes me liberal.

I don't even know where to place myself in the poll.
What? I'm a rational, and not an atheist???
I think I'll just start my own cult. Gotta find me an ENFJ cult leader wannabe to help out. ]:)~

I think that there shouldn't be an "agnostic" option in this poll. You see, you can be agnostic and still believe in God or the opposite (I hope I don't sound like I'm lecturing someone  ). That's how I am: "You can't prove that there is God so I choose not to believe". So agnostic + atheist would be my choice but as I have only one vote it goes for atheist.

Atheism is the belief that there is no Higher Power. Agnosticism is not being convinced that there is a Higher Power, but not entirely certain that there is not. The two are completely different schools of thought, and entirely independent of one another.

^I've got to see the logic Venn-diagram style to understand the two. So the two are sets that can intersect, but neither one is a subset of the other....so you can be just an atheist, and be 100% convinced that there isn't a god, for some reason? Also, you can be agnostic without being religious or atheist? And you can be religious but agnostic (like being a practising Christian, but not completely convinced that there is a God)?

First I want to ask if I understood agnostic right. ;) Agnostic means that you believe that no one can really prove that God exists, right? Maybe I'm just mistaken. :D If that's right than it is only up to you if you choose to believe or not. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

This is the same way I understand them, but I think it's possible to have someone who is an agnostic-atheist (isn't sure that is a God or not, but thinks there probably isn't) and someone who's an agnostic-theist (not sure but thinks there probably is a "God" of some sort, but one who doesn't fit any of the current descriptions and may even be inherently indescribable), as well as having someone who is purely agnostic (no clear preference either way).

some agnostics think it is impossible to know either way, and because of this choose not to choose.

you sound more like a reasonable atheist to me. agnosticism speaks more of uncertainty... like you really aren't leaning one way or the other. you, while admitting there is no absolute proof, take the information you do have and make a choice.

any atheist, just like any theist, claiming that there is absolute proof either way is talking out their arse :P

I'm in the theist/agnostic intersect. I think. 0:)

:-D That Venn worked for me! So right now, I am an agnostic-theist. My Extraverted Thinking says, there probably isn't a God, but my Introverted Feeling says, there better be one because I have a God-sized hunger in my soul and a Big Mac just isn't enough to satisfy it.

That exactly explains ME.

My family religion is 7th Day Adventist, but I don't agree with the leaders of the church. Fortunately nobody listens to them anyway. (Not wear earrings or drink caffeine? Ditch this noise.) I haven't been to church in a long time anyway, going to the private school next door really killed the budding spiritualist in me.

@Orypeci: Yay! Now there's two of us. :D

My judging and perceiving functions can't seem to agree on the topic of religion:

Spoiler:
Fe: Religion helps us all get along harmoniously - like one big happy family. We need code, creed and cult.
Fi: Faith just makes me happy, even if I can't explain it. It simply matters to me.

Se: Life offers many pleasurable experiences. This world is the playground of the gods!
Si: I've had both happy and sad experiences as a believer. Where was God when I needed him most?

Ne: Anything's possible. God is possible.
Ni: The general trend of human personhood is toward a greater fullness of being. Divine personhood may emanate from this reality - both as source and end-goal.

Te: But if you look at the other reality which is the tendency of all nature to fall into chaos, how can we say there is an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent Life Force guiding our destiny?
Ti: Certain religions are closed systems - with their own logic, therefore faith can be reasonable. Even the problem of unjust suffering can be solved by belief in divine justice.
