As INFPs, we possess a reservoir of empathy, compassion, benevolence, and patience. But it can all run out if we do not use it judiciously, save it for when it is truly needed, and get it replenished. When it is called upon too frequently, perhaps by an emotionally needy companion, little is left for that particular companion when larger problems arise, such as the death of one of their loved ones or trouble with the law. These precious resources have been frittered away on insignificant petty dramas. Little is left when greater needs arise. Likewise, our empathy, compassion, benevolence, and patience can be wasted when we are “walking on eggshells” to spare someone’s feelings for too long without ever sharing our own feelings. The reservoir of benevolence must be replenished through reciprocation from others.

I like it raspberrydivine I find that nothing drains my reservoir so quickly as casting my pearls before swine, in whatever way that happens to manifest - this seems to pull out my plughole and let all my reserves out before I even realise it's too late.

raspberrydivine wrote: without ever sharing our own feelings That's the bit that jumps out at me. When I'm feeling low, my first impulse is usually to withdraw from people until I feel better - but often, the most effective way of feeling better is to have a good talk to someone. Being able to express what I'm feeling bad about, and getting affirmation from someone sympathetic, is usually enough to get me back to equilibrium.

Thread necromancy! Anyways, yep I agree too, it's one of the main reasons the particular brand of whiner I mentioned in the "Other Site" thread irritate me so.

It was still juicy when I found it! I'm sure there are more to be found in the dark corners of the 'verse.
