http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-politics-testBe warned, it's a long test (about 150 questions. ). ----------------------- My Results: Paleo-LiberalYou scored 67% Personal Liberty and 46% Economic Liberty! A paleo-liberal believes in low to moderate government intervention on personal matters and moderate government intervention on economic matters. They tend to be opposed to war, police powers and victimless crimes. They believe in a social safety net, but to a lesser extent then most leftists. They generally believe in protecting personal liberty. They support self-ownership and privacy. Some Paleo-liberals may lean towards embracing capitalism as an economic system. Paleo-liberals are reminiscent of the attitude of the "new left" of the 60's and 70's. Strong Paleo-Liberals border on Libertarianism.

crystaluniverse wrote: Uhm, what are "victimless crimes"? Things that are illegal but that don't actually hurt anyone, like soft drug use or homosexuality (when and where it is/was illegal). I must admit I'm not actually sure whether the description means that Paleo-Libreals think that there's no such thing as a victimless crime, or that they think that things that are considered victimless crimes shouldn't be crimes at all. I can say I fall under the latter though.

the idea is that you don't think they should be considered crimes, judging from the questions... as for my results...
Your result for The Politics Test ... Libertarian
You scored 78% Personal Liberty and 66% Economic Liberty! A libertarian believes in little to moderate government intervention on both personal and economic matters. They generally believe in a government that is small and limited to the extent of protecting people's liberty. They tend to be opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, foreign intervention and what they consider to be a welfare state. They support both property rights and self-ownership. More moderate libertarians may use a more utilitarian or gradualist approach, while the more heavily minimalist libertarians allow less room for compromise in a direction that they consider to be away from liberty. Libertarians generally support capitalism as an economic system. Libertarian thought tends to be individualist in nature.

Radical Libertarian You scored 90% Personal Liberty and 90% Economic Liberty! A radical libertarian believes in little to no government intervention for both personal and economic matters. A radical libertarian generally believes in one out of these two options: (1) A government that is extremely small and limited to the extent of protecting people's liberty - this view is known as Minarchism (2) No government at all, in which the private sector takes up all legitimate functions that a government would have - this view is known as Anarcho-Capitalism. Radical Libertarians tend to be strongly opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, foreign intervention and what they consider to be a welfare state. Radical Libertarians tend to be inspired by the Austrian School of Economics, classical liberalism and 19th century individualist anarchism. Libertarian thought is individualist in nature. They try to protect both personal and economic liberty. Examples of Radical Libertarianism would be Murray Rothbard, H.L. Mencken, Ludwig Von Mises and Lysander Spooner. Don't forget Josiah Warren. He built an individualist anarchist town on Long Island called "Modern Times". It worked! ...that is, until the Civil War's economic impact on the community forced it to dissolve.

Neo-LiberalYou scored 59% Personal Liberty and 39% Economic Liberty! A neo-liberal believes in moderate government intervention on personal matters and moderate to high government intervention on economic matters. They believe in a social safety net or welfare state and try to balance personal liberty with safety or security. Some neo-liberals believe in more foreign intervention or war then most other leftists. Others are more like Centrist Democrats. More authoritarian-leaning Neo-liberals (such as personal 40/economic 30) are the result of a "fusion" between "old left" and "new right" tendencies. I suppose. Probably because I said I believe in legalizing marijuana but not abortion

According to the results of that quiz I'm a Social Liberal.
I scored 67% Personal Liberty and 22% Economic Liberty.
I think there should be an option for don't know or no opinion.

A liberal believes in little to no government intervention on personal matters and moderate to high government intervention on economic matters. Liberals tend to be strongly opposed to war, police powers and victimless crimes. A liberal believes in protecting personal rights, particularly involving self-ownership. They believe in a social safety net or welfare state and have a tendency to oppose capitalism as an economic system. They strongly support self-ownership and privacy. More radical liberals lean towards anarcho-socialism. (I tried to get "Anarcho-Socialist", but it's really hard to! )

Social Liberal You scored 75% Personal Liberty and 35% Economic Liberty! A social liberal believes in little to moderate government intervention on personal matters and moderate to high government intervention on economic matters. They tend to be opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, and what they may consider to be a corporate state or rogue capitalism. They generally support personal liberty and believe in a social safety net or welfare state. They support self-ownership and privacy. Social liberals are essentially the "mainstream" left and left of center. Close enough, though the test seemed to have some basic flaws. I'll see if there's something out there a little more ... scientific.
