-> Take The Book Quiz <-64 different outcomes! Edit: Thanks to PtP, there's now a link to -? The Book Quiz 2 ?-From the Book Quiz: You're Ulysses! by James JoyceMost people are convinced that you don't make any sense, but compared to what else you could say, what you're saying now makes tons of sense. What people do understand about you is your vulgarity, which has convinced people that you are at once brilliant and repugnant. Meanwhile you are content to wander around aimlessly, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. What you see is vast, almost limitless, and brings you additional fame. When no one is looking, you dream of being a Greek folk hero. From the Book Quiz 2: You're Frankenstein! by Mary ShelleyInventive, clever, and perhaps too creative for your own good, you are widely admired. While most around you believe that science can only offer unmitigated improvement of their lives, you show them another side to technological advancement that is dangerous and downright scary. While this may sound like you're regressive and even retrograde, it really demonstrates that you're voicing important concerns with a world rapidly spinning out of control. There are those who believe you're melodramatic, but most people appreciate you for this entertaining streak. You really love Halloween.

Oh, my!!!
You're Lolita! by Vladimir Nabokov Considered by most to be depraved and immoral, you are obsessed with sex. What really tantalizes you is that which deviates from societal standards in every way, though you admit that this probably isn't the best and you're not sure what causes this desire. Nonetheless, you've done some pretty nefarious things in your life, and probably gotten caught for them. The names have been changed, but the problems are real. Please stay away from children.

You're Cry, the Beloved Country! by Alan Paton Life is exceedingly difficult right now, especially when you put more miles between yourself and your hometown. But with all sorts of personal and profound convictions, you are able to keep a level head and still try to help folks, no matter how much they harm you. You walk through a land of natural beauty and daily horror. In the end, far too much is a matter of black and white.
I haven't even heard of that book before, but now I'm going to have to go and read it.

You're Watership Down! by Richard Adams Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you're actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You'd be recognized as such if you weren't always talking about talking rabbits. Read the summary. Sounds very INFJ-ish.

You're The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! by C.S. Lewis You were just looking for some decent clothes when everything changed quite dramatically. For the better or for the worse, it is still hard to tell. Now it seems like winter will never end and you feel cursed. Soon there will be an epic struggle between two forces in your life and you are very concerned about a betrayal that could turn the balance. If this makes it sound like you're re-enacting Christian theological events, that may or may not be coincidence. When in doubt, put your trust in zoo animals. I also took The Book Quiz II: You're The Life and Opinions of Tristam Shandy, Gentleman! by Laurence Sterne You are a fan of many people, but most of all, you like yourself. A whole lot. Easily distracted and generally unfocused, you have a hard time communicating anything clearly or directly. However, most people find you funny and engaging despite your tendency to wander off subject. Though later generations may think of you as ahead of your time, most of your contemporaries think you're an idiot. If your life were a movie, it would star Will Farrell. In a wig.

You're Cat's Cradle! by Kurt Vonnegut You believe quite firmly that free will deserted you long ago and far away. As a result, it's hard to take responsibility for anything. Even though you show great potential as a leader of a small 3rd world country, the choices are all made ahead of time. You're rather fond of games involving string. Your fear of nuclear weaponry is trumped only by your fear of ice.

Also took Book Quiz 2: Quote: You're Much Ado About Nothing! by William Shakespeare You're not really sure what all the fuss is about, but it seems like it's all a lot of overreaction. Light and playful, you tend to be the one making dirty jokes in the corner, or even in front of a whole bunch of people. You end up being more or less unable to keep a straight face, even when something serious seems to be on the line. Despite this, you still have something to say about gender equality. In the end, you're just looking for a hero. Yay!

You're Loosely Based! by Storey Clayton While most people haven't heard of you, you're a really good and interesting person. Rather clever and witty, you crack a lot of jokes about the world around you. You do have a serious side, however, where your interest covers the homeless and the inequalities of society. You're good at bringing people together, but they keep asking you what your name means. and... You're Thus Spoke Zarathustra! by Friedrich Nietzsche A tongue-in-cheek philosophical type, you enjoy making fun of others, but to make a serious point. While you feel that the world has generally been misled by others, you nonetheless feel driven to inspire people to undertake passionate work that raises themselves to new heights. Some think these heights will trample those around them and are concerned that you're defending fascism. After all, you have this nasty tendency to write things in blood. Your favorite comic book hero is Superman. hehehe i like that second one, though if you read it tis rather odd

I You're The Guns of August! by Barbara Tuchman Though you're interested in war, what you really want to know is what causes war. You're out to expose imperialism, militarism, and nationalism for what they really are. Nevertheless, you're always living in the past and have a hard time dealing with what's going on today. You're also far more focused on Europe than anywhere else in the world. A fitting motto for you might be "Guns do kill, but so can diplomats."
I spend a lot of time with post-colonial theory so this one is kind of weird considering.
II You're Gravity's Rainbow! by Thomas Pynchon Mysterious and lewd, you are an enigma to most people. You insist on obfuscating your message beneath layers of tangents, jokes, and even math problems, making you much harder to reach than the average bear. This actually has inspired many to respect you all the more, to which you respond with greater confusion and paranoia. Indeed, you feel as though your entire life may be some grand experiment or conspiracy rather than what it appears to be. Your distrust of the destructive instincts of corporations, however, may be well ahead of its time. Your favorite landmark is the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.
Mysterious AND lewd? Count me in.

bromide wrote: Mysterious AND lewd? Count me in. As an aside, your writing style is so vigorous, it reminds me of this brilliant Gothic writer named Flannery O'Connor. Do try this "I write like" link: http://infpverse.freeforums.org/i-write-like-t704.html. Flan should be part of this Book Quiz, imho, if she isn't yet.

Book Quiz I
I am not a big fan of either author, incidentally...
You're Ulysses! by James Joyce Most people are convinced that you don't make any sense, but compared to what else you could say, what you're saying now makes tons of sense.
I took it twice, as I couldn't decide on the "old" question....
You're Love in the Time of Cholera! by Gabriel Garcia Marquez Like Odysseus in a work of Homer, you demonstrate undying loyalty by sleeping with as many people as you possibly can. But in your heart you never give consent! This creates a strange quandary of what love really means to you. On the one hand, you've loved the same person your whole life, but on the other, your actions barely speak to this fact. Whatever you do, stick to bottled water. The other stuff could get you killed.
Book Quiz II
Again, indecisiveness took hold of me, so I took it twice...the old/hip question got me. I prefer old literature, but I also love novelty & keep aware of "new" stuff in general. Don Quixote makes the most sense so far.
You're Don Quixote! by Miguel de Cervantes A romantic idealist, you struggle with knowing where the line is between reality and fantasy. Truth may be stranger than fiction, but that's mostly because you're truly out there in the world spouting your crazy perception of what's going on. This has led to your ultimate isolation and unhappiness: your closest friend sometimes goes behind your back, while your romantic interest doesn't even know you exist. At least your trusty animal companion will never let you down. While everyone thinks the future is in renewable energy, you truly despise wind power.
You're Infinite Jest! by David Foster Wallace While you1 consider yourself2 to be clever, there are those3 who think you're just full of yourself or, perhaps worse, playing a joke4 on everyone around you, and yet you are pretty sure that you really are that brilliant after all, since people would hardly take the time to get to know you5 if they didn't care very deeply about what you had to say to them, to wit, about their lives, their hopes, their dreams, their fears, their drug habits, and of course what videos6 they prefer to watch, since, after all, your impressive vocabulary and tendency to go on and on7 makes you seem superior, able to educate them, and really drive a sense of something ineffable into their measly little skulls while you are not above making a cheap gag or really going after anyone or anything or telling them about incredible futures involving tennis, geopolitics, and... 1Meaning you personally, not someone like you or your own personal daddy, for example. 2As well as you can see yourself, which, frankly, may not be that well. 3Though we wouldn't deign to be so peripatetic as to name them here, mind. 4Jokes, though not common in Victorian England, were known to originate sometime in ancient history, perhaps as early as the time of Babylon, or even before. It is thought that the history of the joke plays an integral role in the mindset of the characters depicted here, though you may disagree at this point, in which case I am facing quite the dilemma in relaying this narrative, no? 5It is rather time consuming, after all. 6Ha! 7and on and on and on...

Book Test #1 You're The Sound and the Fury! by William Faulkner Strong-willed but deeply confused, you are trying to come to grips with a major crisis in your life. You can see many different perspectives on the issue, but you're mostly overwhelmed with despair at what you've lost. People often have a hard time understanding you, but they have some vague sense that you must be brilliant anyway. Ultimately, you signify nothing. Book Test #2 You're As I Lay Dying! by William Faulkner Schizophrenic and unpredictable, you are able to hold many conflicting ideas in your head at once without getting confused. However, this doesn't mean those around you or trying to communicate with you fail to be confused. In fact, your willingness to say precisely whatever is on your mind lends a kind of mystery to you that makes some people afraid of you. But maybe it's just that people don't like being as morbid as you can be. Despite this dark streak, you really like the singer/songwriter Jewel. Lol. Nothingness and darkness, what more is there to life? Why so much Faulkner? I think we need to balance this out with some Quote: Despite this dark streak, you really like the singer/songwriter Jewel. It's like they know me.

Book Quiz I:
You're A People's History of the United States! by Howard Zinn After years of listening to other peoples' lies, you decided you've had enough. Now you're out to tell it like it is, with all the gory details and nothing left out. Instead of respecting leaders, you want to know what the common people have to offer. But this revolution still has a long way to go, and you're not against making a little profit while you wait. Honesty is your best policy.
Book Quiz II:
You're A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man! by James Joyce A lapsed Catholic and classic overthinker, you are besieged by rapidly expanding contemplation of the world around you. While people often think you're making things up, you're really just talking about yourself. This navel-gazing makes you remarkably self-aware, though some of those you know will accuse you of being stuck-up or even narcissistic. This may be why you hate qu
