I posted this in another forum after seeing someone banned under questionable circumstances:

"I think it would be good if, before someone is banned, they have the option of having a trial. I think that a random handful of active members who aren't mods or admins should stand as jury. It could be conducted in a closed setting with just the parties involved, the jury, and perhaps one person as 'counsel' per side."

I don't know if this forum is even big enough to do something like this. I just think it would be a good thing to think about. It's very peaceful around here right now. Every place, though, has it's issues that come up.

Interesting idea Eylrid. To be honest, as you say this place is still relatively small, and so far there have not even been any incidents that would merit people having a finger shaken at them in a stern manner, let alone being banned. I'd love it to stay that way but if this situation were to change it's worth considering having contingency plans in place in case these become necessary. I think at the moment the plan is that there isn't really a plan because so far everybody has been polite and respectful in their interactions with each other. Long may this continue!

Indeed, long may it continue.

I think I'd rather rely on a system of fair, unbiased mods who will listen to other forum members and consider their input when making decisions.

Does that sound ok?

FWIW, if the circumstances of a banning were questionable, then I'd expect our mods to be able to take that into consideration as well. :)

Give someone a little bit of power and they just run amok...

Don't worry Eylrid, I will discipline DC accordingly. :whip:
