I know there's a thread for recipes, but I think I prefer splitting each recipe into its own thread so that they're more easy to find. So please, with future recipes, feel free to give them their own thread!

Seeing as this is my favourite Hong Kong dessert, I figured I should post a recipe. Please note that I haven't tried this recipe yet, but it seems quite simple, provided you can get your hands on the osmanthus blossoms. I've seen packets of in the tea section in asian grocery stores.

Here's a link to the recipe:
http://en.christinesrecipes.com/2009/12 ... jelly.html

The taste is generally slightly sweet, fragrant and refreshing! Some recipes call for wolfberries (or goji berries) to be added, but I think those distract from the slippery texture of the jelly.

I've never had osmanthus before. Is it lighter, more fragrant and flavorful than lychee jelly? I'm a big fan of lychee almond. :D

It isn't as intense or sweet as lychee, so that would make it lighter. If you think of it as a sweetish and tasty tea instead of fruit, that would be closer to the experience.

I love lychees as well!

I've tried and liked green tea jelly as well. Have you tried pandan jelly?

I love green tea anything, especially cake and icecream. The tea gives the icecream a faintly powdery texture that I love.
I've never tried pandan. The colour is just too far into the brightest shade of green for me. What's it like?

The pandan jelly aroma is like jasmine tea but slightly creamy - and Asians usually add coconut milk to it. Comfort food for second breakfast.

But the vibrant green does kinda remind me of this guy. :-D

(I also like green tea ice cream with coffee jelly. :PP )
