Let me set the scene up:
So, it's like three-in-the-morning, and I'm just finishing a session of online-poker and beer drinking, and I decide to turn on the telly. I'm flipping around and happen upon one of the sports stations, which happens to be showing Austrialin Rules Football.
So, I think, "interesting."
Ten minutes later, I'm thinking, "WTF???"
OK, here's what I got from it:
1. Why are the players wearing uniforms that were featured in 70's-era gay porn?
2. WTF?
3. Why are Australians into a game that me and my friends invented when we were seven, and disdained rules? (Ok, that's a complliment more than anything because that game was the best ever...) ?
These are questions that I want answered, Australians. Please help me out.

Let me add...
4. Why is the score 118 - 80? I mean, if scoring is that easy, they should be playing basketball, shouldn't they?

I'm from Aussieland and echo your sentiments. AFL is mainly big in Victoria, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and rural Queensland. Being a New South Welshman/Australian Capital Territory hybrid, I don't understand the fuss. It's like someone just throws a footy into a field full of tall men in tiny shorts and then it's stacks on as they scrabble after the ball in a random manner. Although the ref blows the whistle on occasion, I've yet to see how it relates to any consistent set of rules. It's confusing to say the least.
Having said that, the year the Sydney Swans won the grand final was the most awesome year in the history of AFL, and no other year compares.
