100 x 100 is even smaller than infpgc, any chance you can bump the file size limits up some?

Isn't that a bit big though? The default format for most online communities is 100x100 because anything higher stretches the postbit :D

It's certainly not the default on other typology forums, so we can't be lagging behind (and I would really love to see some data showing that 100x100 is the default on most online communities)!

A lot of the major communities have 100x100 as default, and practically every forum I have ever been a member of, beside this one and GC had 100x100. I can't think of many non-forum communities besides Live Journal that use 100x100, since most places have photo albums these days anyway, but it certainly seems easier to keep that as a default size so you don't have to keep swapping and changing within different forums.

A few years ago it used to always be 64x64 I think. Avatar packs were always at 64x64 and now you'll find loads of avatar packs and icons that are mostly always 100x100. If you look on free avatar websites (Google them, there are a lot) you'll notice that 90% of them are probably 100x100 or less.

I agree that 100X100 is pretty much the new industry standard.

I don't think it's a problem that we've gone over... but too-large avatars are obnoxious and are a nusance when trying to read a page. If we can keep ourselves under control it won't be a problem. As it stands now I think it's all right, but we should be careful not to let it get out of control.

I'm also very happy about the filesize. INFPgc was very restrictive at 10kb. 1MB is more than enough. While such a large limit has a potential for abuse just like large avatars, it's certainly better than what INFPgc had.
