Hi guys- I'm INFP and Enneagram 6, and I feel like the two are nearly one and the same, but that's probably just because I think I make total sense. I'm wondering if certain Enneagram types are more common for INFPs (maybe 1? 4? 5? 9?). Some Enneagram/INFP pairings I just cannot imagine (like a 3 or an 8 ), but would be interested to hear if anyone out there is an example of this. Anyone want to share their thoughts?

Lifexplore has some info on MBTI and enneagram correlations (click on "Articles"). According to the stuff on there the most common types for INFPs tend to be 9s, 4s and 6s (in that order). Although online I actually tend to see more 4s than 9s, and more 5s than 6s, perhaps simply because those types might be more likely to be drawn to things like the MBTI and the enneagram in the first place.

9w1 here - there are a few of us around but we are outnumbered by 4w3s and 4w5s (not sure in which order). I agree with you Alex that an INFP 3 or 8 seems quite unlikely

Some INFPs can have an 8 wing, which gives them a rather fierce edge. I think an E2 or E3 INFP sound rather unlikely as well.

I highly doubt that most INFP's 9's. I think it's definitely number two...I read that fours are most common, followed by nines (around 20-25%) then 5's (less than 10%) which correlates really well to the INFP's I've met. Have met a six here and there, but not many.

Hello! To be honest, I always might have been very much of an INFP personality, and the first few years I did enneagram tests with a friend of mine those days, I ALWAYS got the number THREE as a result. I still feel it is an important part of my personality, yet I nowadays feel like the number four describes me better. As for the traits of the number 3, I often used to term "unworthy" when thinking about myself. I really focused to much on career and so on, on getting where I was heading, and I still have the feeling that I can fit into many "roles" really well. *babble babble babble* But when thinking about the number 4, I got much more relaxaed about myself and my personality, because I always connected the word "career" with "fulfilment". If somebody feels happy about their life path, no matter how much money they made, this is a career in my opinion. I also finally accepted characteristics about myself which I thought of as "weak" beforehand and so on; I am feeling much better about myself since accepting this ... So, count me in as a four. Maybe with a tendency towards the number three still, but I do feel that four is more me ... *nods*

Most theories on the enneagram state that each person not only has an enneagram type (1, 5, 8, etc.) but also a 'wing' - that is, a leaning towards one of the types either side of your own which colours your personality (eg, a 1 with a leaning towards 2 is a 1 with a 2 'wing', or a 1w2 for short. Alternatively, a 4 with a leaning towards 3 is a 4 with a 3 'wing', or 4w3 for short, etc.) Seeing as you identify with the 3 and 4 descriptions the most, that suggests you're either a 3w4 or a 4w3 (or indeed, if enneagram type changes over time then you may have been a 3w4 who became a 4w3). Either way, here are a couple of descriptions for those types (they're down towards the bottom of each page): http://www.allpersonality.com/index.php ... ype-three/http://www.allpersonality.com/index.php ... type-four/Do either of those sound more like you than the other?

Oh drat it, I could have sworn you didn't need those before. I guess they've changed things in the last few months. Try this instead: http://webspace.webring.com/people/cl/l ... hwings.htmI'm sure there's another wings description site I used to use quite a lot, but I can't find it right now. I'll keep looking for it though.
