I've had a crush on this woman since I was a kid. :lurv:

My ESFP mom's favorite Bond Girl. You have excellent taste, sir. ;)

I had a crush on Alyosha Karamazov when I was 17 :

Wikipedia wrote:
The reader may imagine, perhaps, that my young man was sickly, exalted, an undersized (small), puny (thin), pale, and consumptive dreamer. Just the opposite was true: Alyosha was then the picture of health, a sturdy (strong), red-cheeked, clear-eyeed nineteen-year-old boy. He was very handsome, too, and slender, above average height, with dark-brown hair, a regular although rather long face, and shiny dark-gray wide-set eyes, which gave a thoughtful and serene (calm) look.

Dostoevsky, from The Brothers Karamazov, Book I, Chapter Five, p.32

His personality is remarkably unselfish, extremely mature in his religious faith, sensitive to other people's feelings, and loving - "he certainly loved people: throughout his life he seemed to believe in people and to trust them, and yet no one ever thought him simple-minded or naive. There was something in him (and it stayed with him all his life) that made people realize that he refused to sit in judgment on others, that he felt he had no right to, and that, whatever happened, he would never condemn anyone." He passes on the influence of Zosima to the "younger generation" (the schoolboys) of the town. Even with all his kind goodness, he has a gentle personality that makes almost everybody love him and feel comfortable around him. Proud young Kolya Krasotkin says that the best thing about Alyosha is that he treats him like "an equal".

Hmmm, sounds vaguely familiar... :pound:

Aged about 10 I thought I was deeply in love with Will Russell from KM Peyton's 'Flambards' children's book series. Unlike his swashbuckling, (probable) ESTP elder brother Mark, Will was a quiet, clever, scientific type who was passionately into aviation (the series begins just before WW1). I think these books taught me (don't laugh!) that geeks are a worthy love interest for the discerning lady :)

Also, around the same time - I'm probably not allowed this one because he was real but I only knew him from a book so I'm including him - I had a huge crush on the Tsarevich Alexis, the son of Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra. I used to trace his picture from my 'Nicholas and Alexandra' book and daydream about taking a stroll with him in the Russian snow, even though he was murdered in 1918 :?

Aragorn from Lord of the Rings. I remember being terrified before the first movie came out that their version wouldn't live up to my expectations. While not exactly how I imagined him, they pretty much got it right. Seriously, if they'd destroyed the vision I had of "my" Aragorn, the whole movie series would have been ruined for me. I even created Sims of Aragorn and me in the first version of the Sims. We lived in a huge castle, I wore a pretty princess dress, and he walked around looking handsome all day. Our hobbit friends lived down the road.

Runner-up would have to be Rick O'Connell from the Mummy movies. I wanted to be Evie. I wanted her job, and I wanted her man. I am a library technician, but I have never worked anywhere as interesting as Egypt. Rick made it into my Sims game, too. Evie did not. ;)

creepy. i agree with all of those, except 3, because i've never read interview with a vampire. and snape i only fell in love with after the last book came out.... when i was initially reading the books i was totally hot for sirius.

others:
aragorn from lord of the rings
lord veternari from the discworld novels
detective goren from law and order CI
yossarian from catch 22

s'all i can think of for now. i fall in love with fictional characters quite easily >.>

they did ok with aragorn. i think they could have gotten a sexier guy to play him though. viggo has an oddly shaped face. i will admit, he looked good in that movie compared to some others he's been in.

also i just remembered something really embarassing lol.... after seeing true grit i was really enamored with this guy:

even though he's old and dirty and nasty. lol. damn my emotional brain.

I wonder how you liked Professor Henry Higgins (played by Rex Harrison) in My Fair Lady...

I actually really loved Boromir from the Lord of the Rings (extended version of LOTR, showing his love for his homeland). The speech about being called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets... He gave in to weakness for the ring, but he made good. Oh Boromir, alas!

(Could also be something to do with my crush on Sean Bean..)

And then there was Faramir... RAWRRRRRRR.... he knows how to woo a lady. :waggle: But don't get me started on his character assassination in the movies. What were they thinking?? Faramir was one of the most noble characters in the books and they decided to turn him into a thug.

And needless to say, Atticus Finch.

Haa. This topic name reminds me of a great book by Elizabeth Kostova -- Swan Thieves. . One of the main characters falls in love with a woman, a painter from a century back in France through letters and her works.. Then he imagines her to be alive and paints her.. There's really much more to it than that. It's a little different as she used to be non-fiction but then became fiction in the fiction novel.
The point is.. I think it really takes a special kind of person to really fall in love with a fictitious character. I guess it's more like really liking something and dreaming about it.
Or maybe I am all getting it wrong? I liked Sylvia Plath for sometime and really wish I could have met her in real live but not even close to really start liking someone from the fictitious universe, plus she was real at some point of time..
However, I think I can see how it is possible.

Dana Scully
Turanga Leela
Samwise Gamgee (in the bromance scene's, not when he's harrasing Gollum)
Patsy Stone

I guess I have an affection for level-headed sidekicks (except Patsy Stone :p )

Come to think of it I had a bit of a man-crush on him while reading that book... what a neat character.

Like in real life I am strangely attracted to self-destructive femme fatales. Milady DeWinter, Nastassya Filippovna (from Dostoevsky's "The Idiot"). I generally crush on any love interests in RPG games too... that's one of the main reasons I liked playing them actually. No romance in real life so have to play make believe in someone else's story.

When I first read the book as a pre-teen, Atticus didn't make the strongest impression on my mind--Tom Robinson, Mayella Ewell and Bob Ewell did. When I reread it as a teen/young adult, Atticus, Boo and Miss Maudie became the main characters for me. It's interesting how books grow up with you (or is it the other way around?).

Yeah I think that's the funnest part about growing older is you can compare impressions now with the (ever growing) past. Boo and Atticus are the only characters I can remember, it's been awhile since I read it. Should probably go back and reread more stuff... but there's so many books out there to read!

Just remembered one - Julian from Enid Blyton's 'Famous Five' series. A sensible problem-solver who was always getting into adventures, what a hero!

Spoiler:
Warning - 70s video below, featuring unironic footage of Speedos.

In which Timmy the dog wears the cone of shame!

Mostly that one. Also Summer from "500 days of Summer". Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head though. But it tends to be these crazy, outgoing personalities who force adventure upon others, like Danielle from "Girl next door". Or (Zooey Deschanel again) Allison from "Yes Man". Or Penny Lane from "Almost Famous"

Melissa Joan Heart as Sabrina the Teenage witch. Looking back on it now I don't really find her all that attractive so I'm not exactly sure what the appeal was for me at the time.
