Maurice Moss - (The IT Crowd) has to be INTJ. He's too structured to be a P type. There is a guy I know that acts exactly the same as Moss in real life, and he's definitely INTJ :D

Interesting list. I never relate to INFP characters. None of them 'fit' what I would think of myself. I relate to the INFJ and INTP characters more :O

What about Spock? INTJ?

Moss is about as INTP as they come.

Don't mistake his analness (what? It's a word, look it up. >_> ) for "J"-ness. Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory is the same, a meticulously anal INTP.

If you watch him and try to type him based on his cognitive function use, you can tell that he uses Ti and Ne like crazy, no Ni or Te for miles.

And if that ain't enough to convince you, try checking out these youtube clips of a couple of his fellow INTPs, Garth from Wayne's World and Jemaine from the Flight of the Conchords, and then compare them to a couple of INTJ characters, say Cancer man from the X-files and Avon from Blake's 7. You can see that Moss is much much more like Garth and Jemaine than the other two.

Garth - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cKV1jfdDtE
Jemaine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWvyLfN9mZs
Avon - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SWHLU8fwi80
Cancer-man - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FX6a9JmOQw8

Don't know how that fits in with your INTJ friend though.

As for relating to INFP characters, I think it can depend a lot on how well they're written. Some INFP characters I just don't feel like at all (Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: TNG is one) but equally some I totally relate to (like Ned from Pushing Daisies).

As for Spock, I know he gets typed as INTP a lot, but I think you're right and he's an INTJ. He does seem to get those Ni style sudden insights a lot, and his reasoning relies on externally defined logical parameters (Te) rather than Ti style "as long as it makes sense to me" reasoning.

Thanks Stars.

I put this list together (with extra added youtube clips) for a friend of mine who's an MBTI newb, to help him get a feel for the different types. Truth is compiling it all really helped me get a feel for them too, at least as far as stereotypical examples of the types go.

I think Ozzy's an ENFJ. His motivation is to bring the world together in peace and harmony, very NF. An ENTJ would be more likely to be motivated by personal success or the desire to improve a faulty system or fix a broken one.

-I lean more towards Spongebob being an ENFP, but ESFP is definitely possible. I just think he spends too much time living out his various fantasies to be an S.

-There's no way Squidward's Fi dominant, IMO he's not even an F. I think you're right about him being a type 4 though, I think that's where his artistic streak comes from.

-The Flying Dutchman really is a bitch to type, isn't he? :?

-The rest of your typings seem pretty good to me though, especially Mr. Krabs, he's for sure a Te dominant. I'm not too sure about Mrs. Puff being an ISTJ though, she seems too pleasant to be a TJ (sorry TJ's), but I haven't really been paying her all that much attention. :?

That's an awful lot of NFs, Mrs. Lovett in particular seems to me too practical to be an N. Sweeney could be an INFP though (a seriously messed up one), but it's hard to accurately type people who are that crazy.

Hi There,

I just finished watching matrix Reloaded, so I thought I would try my hand at typing characters.

I think Morpheus as INFJ is dead on. :)

But I don't think Trinity is the same as Morpheus. While I do think she is an introvert (when they are all eating in the mess hall in the first film, for example, she is not joining the conversation), I don't know how much introverted intuition she is using. She seems much more practical and logical than intuitive. When they storm the federal building in the first film, she says that what they were doing has never worked before - seems more like intuitive sensing. And when she, Neo & Morpheus enter the Merovingian's lair, while they are figuring out the building's structure, she simply asks "is it good for us or bad for us?" There is a matter-of-factness to her. But while I'm kind of on the fence on that, I really don't think she's a feeler. She seems to be very logical and actually a little obtuse to feeling sometimes. I didn't get that she knew Cipher liked her. And she struggled with her feelings for Neo during the whole first movie. While she obviously has feelings, I think she can easily sublimate them when the time calls for it - like when she calms herself when Neo kisses Persephone. So to me she seems like an ISTJ.

Also, I notice Neo wasn't typed. And truth be told, I think he's totally an INFP! His whole path as the one seems to be consumed by Fi and Ne. He is unassuming, defiant in the defense of his beliefs, feels very strongly for the close relationships around him, always trying to find the true meaning of his life and how that fits into making the world better, a perfectionist, and, well, late for work! :P

And as a trinity, that works nicely because they are all somewhat similar and somewhat different from each other. Neo & Morpheus are both nfs, Morpheus & Trinity share j aspects, and Neo & Trinity compliment each other. And all three are balanced against Link who I'd guess might be an ESFJ.

thanks.

I can see Trinity maybe not being INFJ, but I can't see her as an ISTJ tbh. I think all of the three main characters are Ns of one sort or another, but you might be right about her being a T. A lot of her scenes are romantic ones with Neo, areas where a character is naturally going to display their Feeling side more. So yeah, maybe she's one of those rarities in cinema, an INTJ heroine, like Ripley from the Aliens movies (come to think of it, they are a lot alike).

As for Neo, I think he's pretty clearly an INF of some sort, introverted and idealistic, but everything you said about him could just as easily apply to an INFJ as an INFP (NFJs can be late for work too! :D ). So the question is, what does he use the most, Fi or Ni?

I think NI tends to give INFJs an air of certainty, they've seen what the future could be and now they're going to work towards it. On the other hand, Fi + Ne opens up multiple possibilities, which makes INFPs appear less decisive. Neo takes the whole of the first film to come to terms with the fact that he's The One, whereas Morpheus never really wavers in his belief for a second.

So with that being the case, I think that you're right and Neo probably is an INFP (although a very serious one, lighten up Neo! ). It would make sense from a writing perspective too, because it would add variety to the personalities at work between the three main characters.

Nah, the MBTI stereotype that it's only the Fs that are humanitarians isn't accurate for Ozzy. Einstein for instance was an INTP and one of the most humanitarian-minded people of the 20th century. Towards the end of his life he was most famous for his anti-war activism and support of Gandhi, for instance. I haven't read the graphic novel, I've only seen the movie. But Ozzy didn't seem to have a trace of Fe in him. It's all about order, leadership, and efficiency. I mean he even said the only person he could ever relate to was the man who would have ruled the entire world if he didn't die so soon. That's about as Te as you can get.

Are you sure? Type 4 Ts are pretty rare (I've only seen about two or three of them), so are Type 2 Ts. An ISTP 4 sounds completely bizarre. And he's probably not the healthiest 4 in the world, because he's constantly complaining about his REGULAR job and his non-artistic, non-aristocratic neighbors. So maybe his Fi has been distorted because of that?

Fair point about humanitarian Ts, but I'm not totally convinced.

Te is about labelling, categorising and seeing the logical consequences of your actions, so how is relating to Alexander the Great a good example of that? I think Ozzy relates to him because of their shared intellect and visionary leadership, I don't think it's particularity a type thing.

All I can say for sure is that he seems to use Ni, and that whatever type he is, he's an atypical example.

For the most part, Squidward doesn't really care about what other people are feeling. He tramples over Spongebob's emotions on a daily basis, sometimes he even enjoys doing it. Maybe that's an example of him being just plain old unhealthy, but I'm more inclined to believe that it's because he's an moderately unhealthy Thinker.

Besides that, Squidward is always obsessed with his social standing. He's always trying to impress Squilliam or some other person of prestige such as art directors and the like. That doesn't seem to me to be very SP behaviour, they usually aren't bothered by that kind of thing, which is why I think he's an ISTJ.

I think I agree with these except maybe Hermes, Zoidberg and Zapp.

Hermes doesn't strike me as being a nurturing NF type, I'd type him as an SJ of some sort, I'm not sure which one though.

Zoidberg and Amy are just too different to be the same type IMO, even if you take the enneagram into account. I'd say he's maybe an ENFP?

Zapp is obviously the show's Capt. Kirk parody, and seeing as I think Kirk's an ESTP...

Hmm, I'm currently reading the Ender's Game series and trying to type them.

Ender- INfJ (a bit of a dullard)

Peter-INTP or INTJ (my absolute favorite)

Valentine-INFJ

Bean-INTJ

Petra-ESTP

Achilles-ENTJ

I'm not too sure though.
